Use a friendly opening.

2. Opening sentence (reason for writing)

Say why you are writing.

3. Description of the place

Describe where you were.

  • Where did you go?

  • What was the place like?

Use adjectives:

  • beautiful, crowded, relaxing, exciting


4. Narration of the experience (past tenses)

Explain what happened, in order.

Use past tenses and linkers:

  • First,

  • Then,

  • After that,

  • Finally,


5. Feelings and opinion

Explain how you felt and why it was memorable.

  • I felt happy / excited / surprised

  • It was unforgettable because…


6. Closing sentence

End the email naturally.

  • I hope to hear from you soon.

  • Write back soon and tell me about your holiday.


7. Sign off

  • Bye,

  • Best wishes,

  • See you,
