HOW TO DO A GOOD ORAL PRESENTATION


STRATEGIES FOR PREPARING THE PROJECT.

A) Do a lot of research. Do corta y pegas from Wikipedia. Watch videos.

B) Make a list of important content. Start your first draft.

Bring a paper copy of your power point presentation. In class:

1) Practice sentences following the syntax chart in your LEARNING DIARY. See TAULA DE SINTAXI.

2) Write these sentences in your notebook. Remember to use adjectives. See ADJECTIVES OF PERSONALITY and ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE PLACES.

3) Let's listen to the speaking person.

4) Prepare questions.


 Non-verbal communication. Focus on body language. Good listening practices.

1) What is body language?

2) Let's practice how to stand during a presentation. How to dress and do our hair.

3) What to do with our hands? How to deal with nerves. Carry black cheat cards.

4) How to speak & how to listen. LISTEN TO THE VIDEOS BELOW.

5) How to applaud & interact with good manners. Using verbal and non-verbal responses.


HOW TO LISTEN
TÉCNICAS Y HABILIDADES DE LA ESCUCHA ACTIVA.

  1. Evita interrumpir. 
  2. Escucha sin emitir juicio. 
  3. Parafrasea y resume. 
  4. Muestra un comportamiento no verbal positivo. POSITIVE BODY LANGUAGE.
  5. Haz preguntas específicas y abiertas.
  6. Haz preguntas con buena educación y corrección gramatical.
  7. Agradece las respuestas.


HOW TO SPEAK
* Meet & greet your audience. PAUSE & BREATHE.

* Vary the volume, pitch and speed of your voice. Play with emphasis.

* Take deep breaths. RELAX. Use relaxing physical exercises.

*Speak SLOWLY. Speak at a slow pace that allows your audience to understand what you're saying and stay engaged.

* When you finish, thank your audience for listening. SAY: "Thankyou for listening".

REMEMBER: you are also teaching the students.
